Originally built in 1942, Faith Hall was demolished down to the original 2’ thick
monolithic granite walls. The deteriorated structural timber roof-framing system
was replaced with a structural steel and light gauge metal truss system. An intermediate
elevated slab was added to create additional floor space on the main level along
with studio space in the newly created lower level. The exterior consists of new
granite parapets and gables, including dormers, with cast stone accents, along with
slate and copper roofing consistent with the University’s gothic architecture. Now
named for its most recent benefactor, J. Mack Robinson Hall contains faculty offices
as well as classroom and studio space, along with a state-of-the-art photography
lab. Slate flooring, cast stone steps, maple wainscoating and fypon trim profiles
accent the lobbies inside the cast stone vaulted entrances with custom fabricated
ornamental iron canopies.
