New Student Housing and Historic Clower Hall Student Center Renovation
The new student housing facility at South Georgia College compliments the current
design and scale of existing campus buildings. It entails 252 student beds in 93
units, distributed throughout a 3-story corridor building. It includes a resident
manager’s apartment and adjacent office, a multi-purpose area and adjoining community
kitchen, a central laundry room, computer lab and the addition of approximately
92 resident and visitor parking spaces. To further enhance the new housing village,
a renovation plan for the Clower Recreation Center was incorporated.
The Clower Center provides several academic and community support functions for
the housing residents, as well as the general student population. This previously
abandoned, historic structure has become the focal point for student activity on
campus.
