Phase III of Southern Polytechnic State University’s housing program continues the transformation of SPSU by bringing full-time
campus student life to the west side of SPSU’s campus. The program consists of residence halls in two buildings totaling
600 new beds, a new 300 seat, 15,000 sf dining facility, and a new special interest housing cluster including 52,000 sf
of housing space in 10 buildings, a community center, and 4 acres of hardscaped common area. Additionally, these facilities
include study lounges, laundry facilities, tutoring centers and meeting spaces for the residents.
Special Interest Housing: The special interest housing buildings are all wood framed with wood floor/roof trusses
and slab-on-grade foundations. The porches feature two story GFRC columns and the exterior façade is composed of brick and
cast stone accents. The buildings all utilize split system heat pumps and individual electric water heaters.
Residence Halls: The new residence halls are each 4-story wood and metal stud hybrid structures with wood floor/roof
trusses. The lobby areas of both residence halls feature upscale tile flooring, decorative pendant lighting, and architectural
millwork features.
Dining Hall: The upper dining area features a commercial kitchen capable of serving hundreds of students at each
meal. The lower dining area was designed to host special events for the college and its administration.
