The expansion of the University of Georgia’s East Campus Village housing complex consists of a 6-story residence hall with approximately 550 beds, apartment space for onsite staff,
high-end Multipurpose/Event and lobby areas, faculty office space and facility shop areas.
The structure is a post tension concrete frame with a structural steel framing system for the attic/roof level. The project also includes an 8,000 sf below grade storage warehouse.
The building facade is a combination of cast stone and brick veneer with generous quantities of curtainwall, storefront, and commercial aluminum windows. Systems specifications
are written to 50 year institution building standards.
This new residence hall is a LEED Gold Certified building. Some of the sustainable building methods being implemented include, a grey water system for all shower and lavatory waste
which will be filtered and reused for flushing toilets, a high efficiency 4-pipe chilled water system with control integration with all operable windows, a below grade concrete
cistern and multiple bio-cells to manage storm water runoff, FSC certified wood, enhanced commissioning, and provisions for the addition of solar and/or photovoltaic cells.
